Local priorities
Focused on the work residents actually need.
Municipal government should be practical, responsive, and close to the people it serves, especially in countryside communities where a one-size-fits-all policy rarely works.
Safer roads and calmer traffic
Support traffic calming measures in areas prone to speeding, and pursue paved shoulders where bicycles and pedestrians are common.
Preserve rural land
Control urbanization so Kingston Countryside can grow responsibly while protecting rural land, farms, waterways, and local character.
Responsible city budgets
Push for strict controls on city spending where budgets have outpaced inflation and made property taxes harder for residents to afford.
Minimize ALTO impacts
If the ALTO project proceeds, work to minimize its impact on rural Kingston residents, roads, land use, and day-to-day community life.
Finish LaSalle Causeway repairs
Encourage quick completion of LaSalle Causeway repairs so residents, businesses, commuters, and emergency routes are not left waiting longer than necessary.
More trees and rural parks
Continue tree planting along roads and support the expansion of rural parks for shade, recreation, habitat, and long-term community health.
Accessible representation
Keep residents informed, explain decisions clearly, and make sure Countryside has an experienced voice at the council table.

Waaban Crossing funding
Helped secure senior government funding for the Waaban Crossing, strengthening a key connection for Countryside residents.

Facilitated the Kingston East Community Centre to support recreation, gathering space, and services for area residents.
Residential speed reductions
Facilitated speed reductions in residential areas to make neighbourhood roads calmer and safer for families, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Countryside commercial growth
Supported expansion of commercial areas by facilitating expansion of Kingston East commercial districts, improving access to local services and economic activity closer to home.
Protected rural residents
Worked to protect rural residents from the impacts of the Samsung solar project and ensure community concerns were taken seriously.
Shannon’s Corner park renewal
Advanced the redevelopment of Shannon’s Corner Community Park as a better local gathering and recreation space.

Meet Jeff
Jeff Scott previously served as City of Kingston councillor for Countryside, bringing direct experience with municipal decision making and the practical issues that shape daily life outside the urban core. A Kingston resident since 1984 and a Countryside resident since 2001, Jeff knows the district’s roads, hamlets, farms, parks, and neighbourhood concerns — and is looking forward to reconnecting with residents across the district throughout the campaign. His volunteer work reflects a long commitment to local stewardship, including ongoing reforestation, a major tree-planting project at 64 area schools, and yearly Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre fundraising through handmade birdhouses.
Jeff brings both previous council experience and practical training in land, design, and stewardship.
Previous council experience
Former City of Kingston councillor for Countryside, 2010–2014, with active past service on Planning Committee, Administrative Policy Committee, Environment and Infrastructure Committee, Committee of Adjustment, Rural Advisory Committee, the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority Board, and the KFL&A Health Unit Board.
Education
Diploma in Horticulture from the University of Guelph and diploma in Urban Design from Mohawk College.
